While the hugely popular Subway chain is popular all across the US (and the world), the company doesn’t actually own any of their stores.
As the corporate site explains in their FAQ, every one of the over 40,000 Subway locations worldwide is actually independently owned and operated. They have more than 21,000 franchisees — small business owners who operate their local Subway restaurants in more than 100 countries around the world.
While most of these fast casual sandwich shops offer only a few fountain drinks, as you can see above, they expand the selection with bottled sodas, juices and non-carbonated beverages.
